Here are some honorable mentions for projects in Equitable Elevation III that we absolutely needed to be shown! With EE3 receiving so many submissions, we wanted to show the projects that were so close to the top 3. Give a round of applause for these projects.

Boundary Buddy

Boundary Buddy, crafted by Ansell Maximilian, is an insightful online test game that teaches kids about respect, boundaries, and the value of expressing discomfort. With Vite serving as the foundation framework, React and TailwindCSS were used in the development of this app. Not only did we love the vibrant and interesting courses, Ansell was both the designer and developer. Single-handedly, he created an app that promoted a fun and relaxed learning atmosphere.

Every lesson includes a series of multiple-choice questions with thorough explanations for both right and wrong answers. The initiative helps to avoid possible abuse by addressing the urgent need to teach youth how to set boundaries and speak up. Throughout the project, Ansell enjoyed gathering enough content for a full quiz game, despite the difficulties in creating engaging and effective lessons. Our judges at EQ Hacks loved this game, and we wanted to highlight the project's potential for growth, along with its important contribution to issues that young people confront in the real world.

Ansell states that he hopes for Boundary Buddy to have more entertaining components and important questions in the future in order to improve the learning process.

Eve

Eve, built by Jamie Alabin, Naomi Listana, Jaron Pomer, and Sophia Torres, is a hackathon project that addresses the critical problem of preventing intellectual and socioemotional immaturity in young people by protecting them from the harmful impacts of superficial and deceptive online content. Aware of the possible long-term effects on the advancement of society, Eve suggests an interactive browser add-on that helps young people develop their critical thinking abilities.

Rather than limiting access, Eve facilitates community integration for informed discourse, offers users interactive evaluations and one-click access to learning resources. The target audience is young people who, as a result of being exposed to harmful online content, run the danger of developing poor foundations in critical thinking. The goal of the solution, which was created through collaborative prototyping and UX research, is to enable young people to navigate the digital world with judgment and a comprehensive viewpoint.

HelpingHand

HelpingHand by Charan Sridhar is a revolutionary online chat service that was inspired by the author's own therapeutic experiences. Its mission is to provide a secure and encouraging environment for young people who are experiencing mental health problems.

Drawing inspiration from the powerful dynamics of a nearby youth stutter support group, the writer realized how important it is for relatable characters to facilitate conversations. HelpingHand presents Solace, an OpenAI-powered Large Language Model Therapist/Moderator, to solve the difficulty in locating such people. With the help of the platform, users can create group chats centered around particular subjects, like depression or speech impairments, and participate in discussions facilitated by Solace in a setting that is free of judgment.

The project overcame obstacles in text optimization and interface consistency by using React JS and Chatengine for the frontend and Python for Solace. A fully functional Large Language Model interface and a chat room are among the accomplishments. In order to improve user involvement, future plans aim for adding a video call option and extending into mobile app stores. HelpingHand is evidence that using technology to meet youth's urgent mental health needs is possible.
